In the end, I find myself going back more to the non-singles (like Oceans) and also to the Mother Love Bone stuff. In essence, it's like Stone Gossard blew threw all he could do in that direction and/or they just didn't use as much of his stuff anymore.

It was the use of more color: wider vocal melodies, occasional fretless bass, and lots of alternate tunings. What was so great about Ten was not the glossy production.
